January 31^st – Strega Cafe (St. Catharines)

(St. Catharines, January 12th, 2009) – Troy Western is playing Strega Cafe on January 31^st.  The engaging singer-songwriter will be offering his own unique blend of pop-folk-rock at STREGA CAFE, 19 King Street, St. Catharines, where he will be introducing new songs that will be appearing on his upcoming CD.

Troy’s lush, melodic phrasing, skillful guitar work, and penetrating, thought-provoking lyrics give rise to his growing popularity as a singer-songwriter. Troy is currently working on his upcoming CD and will perform new songs appearing on the album. STREGA CAFE is one of Troy’s favourite St. Catharines venues because its eclectic history rich in live music, art, and fine food. Troy will take the stage at 9:30 p.m., preceded at 9pm by fellow local musician Cody Elliott, who gained a local following with the band Levee. Cash donations will be gratefully accepted throughout the evening with 100% going to the performers.

Recently, Troy Western played to a supportive crowd in the “Singer-Songwriters’ Circle” on the main stage at the Food Festival in Welland, Ontario. In the past year, he helped lead and performed at the hugely successful fundraiser called “ANDREW’S FIGHT” in support of local cancer survivor and paramedic, Andrew Middleton, he placed third in the Paragon Singer-Songwriter Competition in Toronto, and he appeared live numerous times around the Golden Horseshoe, from THE FRIENDSHIP FESTIVAL in Fort Erie to THE CAMERON HOUSE in Toronto.

In addition to the many bars, pubs, theatres, and cafés Troy has played, he has also hit the festival scene, playing the S.C.E.N.E. MUSIC FESTIVAL in St. Catharines, the FORT ERIE MUSIC FEST, the SAMMY SUGAR DAY FESTIVAL in Toronto, as well as the HIGHLAND CREEK HERITAGE FESTIVAL in Scarborough, Ontario. Troy is a 2006 nominee for the Toronto Independent Music Awards and was voted the Featured Artist for May 2006 on BreakingLocals.com, a website devoted to bands and fans of all music genres across the world.
